The Walkersville High School Music Program has been a cornerstone of the school's arts education since its inception. Over the years, it has grown into a thriving program that encompasses various ensembles, including choir, band, and orchestra. The program has consistently excelled in local and state competitions, earning numerous accolades and recognition for its exceptional performances at District, Regional, and State Adjudication. The students' dedication, hard work, and the guidance of talented music educators have contributed to the program's success, making it a source of pride for the entire Walkersville community.
These are the WHS staff members, board of directors, talented technicians, and selfless volunteers who make it possible to keep music ringing in the halls of Walkersville Highschool and out into the streets of our amazing town.

Marching Band
Bio: I've played the alto and soprano saxophone since 4th grade, but my main area of expertise is marching and visuals. This will be my 5th year with WHS music, and my 5th year teaching math here at WHS. My favorite part of working with the music department is being able to work with my students outside of class.
Percussion Technician
Bio: I have over 20 years of experience as a percussionist. Playing with many different groups and ensembles from elementary school and through college. I have played many local professional gigs as well as touring part of Europe with college ensembles. I took over the percussion program at WHS in 2019 and I have enjoyed watching this program grow, helping to shape each student's musical journey.
Color Guard Captain Head
Bio: I have been doing color guard for over 12 years and have been instructing with the Walkersville program for seven. I have worked with different groups ranging from middle school to high school both indoor and outdoor. My favorite part of working with Marching Lions is the students. I love watching them start with no experience with color guard and seeing them throughout the season become amazing performers.
Music Booster President

Bio: I have been part of the WHS music program for the last five years. My favorite part of working with the booster is watching these amazing musicians from the sidelines. Volunteering on the marching band pit crew gives me front row seats to cheer on my daughters and students. I am excited to help Mr. Loy continue to build his music program and healp make this high schoool experience the best I can for his students.

Bio: My daughter Caroline is in her senior year with the WHS music program. Caroline introduced our family to all things music and we love watching Caroline perform with friends at Walkersville High School.

Bio: This is my third year as a parent with the WHS music program/Boosters. My music background was teaching myself to play piano, playing the flute and piccolo in middle school, including playing in the flute quartet. During middle & high school, I sang in the concert choir and madrigals at TJ High School. My favorite part of working within the music department at WHS is watching students develop their skills & confidence, while bonding over a passion for music. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of helping them have a memorable experience.

Bio: Throughout high school, I sang in choir and an acapella group. I also marched in the color guard. My favorite 'failure' in life was NOT making the color guard in college because I was able to join the DRUMLINE of James Madison University which was phenomenal! By far, my best musical experience ever was being a band, orchestra, and jazz parent. Nothing beats seeing our kids following their passion and sharing their love and pride for their music.
